The Forgotten City is a mystery adventure game of exploration and deduction. It is developed by Modern Storyteller and published by Dear Villagers, and has been in development since 2017. The game is based on the award winning Skyrim mod of the same name, released in 2015.
After Character Creation and the first quests setting up the plot, the player is free to run around the city. Here they will mainly talk to the inhabitants and attempt to solve their issues, exploring the city for clues on it's purpose, all while exploiting the time loop to progress. All of this in order to get closer to finding a way make to their time.
The game features the aforementioned time loop. Every loop, someone is going to break the so-called Golden Rule, forcing the loop to start anew. The player will keep any items they were carrying, along with all the knowledge they have acquired. Everything else reset, including all the characters memories.

There are 4 different endings to The Forgotten City. They can be achieved at different points in the game, and with different degrees of understanding. If an ending as been achieved, it is still possible to load a save made before the ending to get the others.
