Mar 31, 2021 · The founding members of the Fabulous Wailers were John Greek, who played guitar and trumpet, Richard Dangel, who played lead guitar, Kent Morrill, who played piano and was the lead vocalist, Mark Marush, who played tenor sax, and Mike Burk, who played drums.
Originally a jazz band in 1957, formed by two high-schoolers, acoustic basiest Woody Mortenson and trumpeter John Greek. At various times they called themselves the MGs, the M-G Trio, the M-G Quartet and so forth.
Drummer Mike Burk is now the lone surviving member of the original line-up of the group that put the Pacific Northwest on the map: The Fabulous Wailers of Tacoma. Like that other famed Northwest hamburger throat, Jerry Roslie of the Sonics - who’ll readily admit to Kent as an influence - Morrill was a quiet, self-effacing chap.
