Track Builder is a playset line introduced in 2014, initially as part of the HW Workshop segment of Hot Wheels. Each of the playsets featured various stunts and accessories which could be connected together to form numerous track layouts. The line can be seen as acting as a spiritual successor to the Track System and TrackWorx lines. Numerous sizes of sets were available, with larger sets containing one or sometimes more cars. Bundles of multiple sets were also available. This track system is meant to be all-encompassing; it functions with all previous track systems and cars.
The set received a new logo in 2016 and a new stylistic theming, with the sets now featuring blueprint and rough construction-like designs using makeshift materials, as well as improved quality plastics used for manufacture of the sets; the line was also renamed Track Builder System. Parts of some boxes can also be pressed out to create makeshift ramps. Some sets starting from 2017 include Mega Construx (MEGA brands, formerly Mega Bloks) construction bricks.
With the revamp of the Hot Wheels playset line in 2018, the Track Builder line was added to the Growing Up with Hot Wheels chart as the final step of the chart. The line received a new logo in 2020 and a further retheming, with emphasis on white, yellow and blue colors and a barebones industrial theming, with an emphasis on boxes and kits containing specific components. The line was also renamed as Track Builder Unlimited, with emphasis placed on the building and rebuilding of the Track Builder system.
The Track Builder line is also notable for introducing a new type of track connector and track; the connectors feature a blue button in the middle which can be pressed to disconnect the track pieces. An indent in the track ends is also featured for the button to fit flush into. This track connector is also compatible with older styles of track, and most older track connectors are compatible with this new style of track.
