One minute you’re reading a book about a family, or a young guy’s journey to find himself… you read about him falling in love, and sex scenes that you’ve never read before. But then there’s this murder mystery: his uncle disappeared, and he will occasionally talk about it.
Aug 30, 2024 · When an old friend uncovers some leads about his uncle Rory, Prentice can’t resist following them no matter how shocking the outcome or how dangerous the path. Part thriller, part family saga, part coming-of age-novel, The Crow Road is one of Banks’ warmest and most accessible novels.
The Crow Road is a family novel that’s also a good mystery. Banks shifts from the first person point of view of Prentice McHoan to the first and third person POVs of his father, uncle, and others. While people are dying here, as they tend to do in most mystery novels, there is a remarkable difference.
