Its first issue sold about 900,000 copies, featuring popular stories such as Dan Dare, Riders of the Range, and P.C. 49. Following Morris's departure and various changes, Eagle was subsumed by its rival, Lion, in 1969, before being relaunched in 1982 and eventually dropped by its publisher in 1994.
