Summary. The Apology, or Socrates' Defence, pretends to be the speech, or rather speeches, that Socrates gave at his trial on a charge of ‘doing what is unjust by corrupting the young and not believing in gods the city believes in but other new divine entities’ (Apology 24 b 8– c 1).
