    Salamat

    “Salamat” is the most common way how to say thank you in the Philippines. It’s the informal way of thank you in Tagalog. It’s also often used when someone extends a favor, whether or not it’s expected to be returned.

    Maraming salamat

    It’s the main dialect in the Philippines to express much gratitude and appreciation.

    Salamat po

    This is a more formal way of saying thank you in the Philippines and is usually used by people who are addressing an older person or someone with higher status than them, such as a boss or teacher. The word “po” at the end honors this person’s status in society; it means “polite.”
