Tenri (天理市, Tenri-shi) is a city located in Nara Prefecture, Japan. The modern city was founded on April 1, 1954, and is named after the Japanese new religion Tenrikyo, which has its headquarters in the city. As of April 1, 2015, the city has an estimated population of 66,866, and 29,169 households. [ 1]

Tenri is a small city just south of Nara city and is famous for being the home of Tenri-kyo, an offshoot Buddhist religion. It is also the only city in Japan that is named after a religion. Tenri-kyo originally wanted to call the city Yamabe after where Tenri-kyo was located before the city’s merger in 1954 but it was decided that the city would be called Tenri instead.
Feb 4, 2022 · To get to Momoo Falls (桃尾の滝) go to Tenri. If coming on the highway, get off at Tenri and turn right on Route 169. Go about 2.5 km and turn left on Route 25. Go a little over 3km. You'll pass a few houses. Look for a small white sign on your left with the following written on it - 桃尾の滝.
