That decision made no sense but I don't think she cared. So the final episodes basically ends with Star committing genocide by exterminating all of magic in the entire multiverse, which basically nuked the entire show's lore from it's beginning till now. In the end, we got a mess of an ending and a badly written season.

Mina is not killed or was she arrested in the ending, she instead runs to live in the forest claiming her ideas will continue, meaning she is still a threat!
