Minnesota Orchestra Conductor Laureate Stanislaw Skrowaczewski passed away last month at the age of 93.
Feb 21, 2017 · Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Minnesota Orchestra Conductor Laureate, died at the age of 93 in St. Louis Park. Skrowaczewski came to Minnesota decades ago to lead what was then the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, and he never left.
The Polish government has conferred it's highest order on Skrowaczewski - the Commander Order of the White Eagle. Skrowaczewski died in St Louis Park, Minnesota, on 21 February 2017, aged ninety-three.
Feb 22, 2017 · Born in October 1923 in Lwów, Skrowaczewski exhibited remarkable pianistic and compositional talent from a very early age and initially intended to build a career as a pianist, but was forced to change direction after sustaining a hand injury during an aerial bombardment during World War Two.
He was the father of Paul Sebastien, founder of electronica groups Psykosonik and Basic Pleasure Model, and of Nicholas Skrowaczewski. He lived in Wayzata, Minnesota, and died in St. Louis Park on February 21, 2017. Frederick Harris, Jr., director of the MIT Wind Ensemble, wrote Skrowaczewski's official biography. [8]
