Feb 22, 2017 · Obituary: Conductor and composer Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, 93. “Minnesota’s beloved maestro Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, who defected from Communist Poland to lead the Minnesota Orchestra to new heights, died Tuesday at 93,” writes Jenna Ross in Tuesday’s (2/21) Star Tribune (Minneapolis).
Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, composer and conductor, was one of the first donors to the PMC Manuscript Collection. From 1984 to 1991, following 19 years as Music Director of the Minneapolis Orchestra, Skrowaczewski was appointed Principal Conductor of the Hallé Orchestra.
