May 4, 2024 · During those years I wrote my reviews of musical events — criticisms good and bad, judicious and short-sighted, benevolent and malicious; full-fledged essays and condensed notes, for daily papers and for magazines.
All I can do is write briefly of Skrowaczewski the éminence grise: A Klemperer-like musician who built music brick-by-brick. He's one of those who seems to view music like an ethical force, who endowed every musician and every note with the right to be fully heard.
Feb 28, 2017 · Stanisław Skrowaczewski. Underrated. Skrowaczewski was an underrated conductor in his lifetime. Yes the press would review the CDs he would release on smaller record labels but he was never the sensational star conductor like some of his peers.

Stanislaw Skrowaczewski leads a brisk and bracing account of Symphony No. 1 (similar to Zinman’s Tonhalle Orchestra recording), an approach that posits Schumann as an heir to Haydn and Beethoven rather than a prototype of Brahms (or in some hands, Bruckner).
