Stagedoor Manor is located in a former Catskills Borscht Belt resort (Karmel Hotel) in Loch Sheldrake, New York that was redesigned in the 1970s. The camp consists of a variety of theatre spaces, including the Carousel, the Cabaret, the Forum, the Merman, and the outdoor Garden Theatre.
Every three weeks, 14 full-scale productions come to life. The faculty – all seasoned professionals – demand adult-size dedication and performances from the kids. But where did it begin? The Early Days. Stagedoor Manor has its roots in a camp called Beginners Showcase, which launched in 1967.
Once a former resort hotel, Stagedoor Manor’s facilities are far more comfortable than the conventional summer camp. Three to six campers share a carpeted dormitory-style room, which has private bath, twin or bunk beds, a full-size closet and several dressers.
