St. Andrew's Church is one of the oldest churches in Mumbai. It was originally built by Portuguese Jesuits in 1575. It stands on the sea-shore of the Bandra suburb of Mumbai, and was the only church there till the first quarter of the 17th century. St. Andrews Church in Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra state in India is a famous church situated in the Kala Ghoda area in the city. The construction of this church was started in 1816 and completed in 1819. The fund was provided by the British East India Company.
Then in 1739, Salsette was taken over by the Marathas and St Anne and its surrounding fortifications were blown up so they wouldn't fall into enemy hands. From 1739 until St Peter's was built in 1853, St Andrew's was Bandra's only church. In 1966, the church's wooden portico was demolished and the building's facade was extended.
