St Patrick's College (Irish: Coláiste Phádraig), often known as St Pat's, [1] was a third level institution in Ireland, the leading function of which was as the country's largest primary teacher training college, which had at one time up to 2,000 students.
St. Patrick’s College was established in 1875 for the education of Primary Teachers, and is affiliated to Dublin City University, with a student body of over 2,300. The college occupies beautiful landscaped grounds just off Drumcondra Road, and incorporates a number of historic protected structures including the 17th century Belvedere House.
St Patrick's College specializes in the teaching of the Humanities and Education at undergraduate and postgraduate level; it sustains an active research culture. Since 1993, the College has been a College of Dublin City University.
The DCU Institute of Education is the newest faculty of Dublin City University and is based in DCU St Patrick’s Campus, Drumcondra. The Institute brings together students of education across all sectors from early childhood, to primary and post-primary, and further and higher education.
