Mass and Services are ordinarily celebrated by a canon of the Chapter of St Mark’s, while the Patriarch of Venice celebrates the main solemnities of the liturgical year. The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark (Italian: Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco), commonly known as St Mark's Basilica (Italian: Basilica di San Marco; Venetian: Baxéłega de San Marco), is the cathedral church of the Patriarchate of Venice; it became the episcopal seat of the Patriarch of Venice in 1807, replacing the earlier cathedral of San Pietro di Castello.

Timings: T he basilica is open to visitors from 9:45 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sundays and public holidays.
St. Mark’s Basilica is open every day from 9:30 AM to 5:15 PM. On Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, the Basilica is open to visitors from 2 PM. The museum - Loggia dei Cavalli is open on Sundays from 9:30 AM to 2 PM. The Bell Tower is open daily from 9:30 AM to 9:15 PM. Visitors can enter the Basilica for free for prayer, mass, and services.
