   • The difference with Southland is its more of a cops on the beat sort of show, the long arcs are about their lives rather than seasons of bringing down Avon or Marlo or The Shields will the guest star of the season finally take down Vic. Some of the acting in Southland is brilliant too, I think its the best thing Lucy Liu has ever done.

   • The Shield has a great central character in Vick Mackie and an excellent ending. Southland you can jump in at any time and enjoy it but is worthwhile following from beginning to end. One thing to note is that Southland was a show that was rescued from network tv because it had a core fanbase but its tone and realism didn't find a footing on NBC.

   What's the difference between the wire and Southland?

   • Both are great but also different. The Wire is more about criminal organizations and the "game". The polices attempts to combat these organizations and the effect it all has on the community. Where as Southland is more about the individual officers as they go about the day to day. I've seen them all and love them all.
