Smart Egg Pictures was an American film production company founded in 1981 by George Zecevic. They specialized in co-financing production on films as well as distribution in foreign markets. Smart Egg produced sixteen English-speaking pictures and eight motion pictures in the Serbo-Croatian language. Smart Egg holds the distribution rights for all of them.
Their first work in the industry was co-producing Dušan Makavejev's Montenegro with Europa Film and Viking Film. Smart Egg also produced the 1984 horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street as well as its first four sequels, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge in 1985, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors in 1987, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master in 1988 and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child in 1989. It also produced such films as Spaced Invaders in 1990, Mind Twister in 1994, Sleepstalker in 1995 and Evil Ed, also in 1995.
