Certainly, the age of DVDs and streaming have allowed one to engage with these subtleties on a much more rigorous level with repeat viewings.

Severin’s two-disc 4K UHD Blu-ray release of Drowning by Numberscaptures Peter Greenaway’s black comedy in all its sumptuous beauty.
Greenaway fans that have suffered with these early DVDs should be thrilled with this new Blu-ray. The linear PCM audio is imperfect but this would be in-line with the original production. It is significantly superior to the SD - and adds optional (HoH) subtitles.
It’s a fun game to spot them, but it also makes the viewer pay close attention and appreciate the excellent production design (or, encourage the viewer to watch again, just to see if they can find the numbers the next time).

Jun 16, 2023 · Combined with a stellar 4K presentation of the film, Severin’s UHD set for Drowning by Numbers is a wonderful opening move in the format for a director who seems to have been tailor made for 4K. Hopefully, this is the sign of more great UHD releases of his films yet to come. - Stephen Bjork.
