Instead of going with main sources, you go by books that only summarize them which obviously is not the same as reading books. I'm not saying that you should not go and read summaries but rather they can help you gaining reading habit again.

Book summaries vs reading. A book summary gives the main thesis and necessary evidence without going into as much detail. Presumably on an ideas-per-hour-invested basis, summaries will win out over full books. You can quickly memorize and recollect the main idea and key points of the book.
Maybe the summary apps can be good the quickly check and compare a few books before reading, or for revision. That's mainly how I use it, as a screening tool. In 15 minutes I can get a feel for the book's content and a few choice quotes, and that helps me decide whether to go ahead with the whole book.
