She didn't choose Luke. I was genuinely worried that she would never see Nick again, but then she did and she kissed him and things felt safe again. I like Luke and all but I am happy she chose Nick. I feel as though the love between them felt more real than the relationship with Luke.
The Nick/June relationship is problematic because every single relationship in Gilead is problematic. Luke is outside that, preserved in a kind of emotional amber for June. Luke hasn't had to deal with post-Gilead June at all, and if he ever does, that relationship will also be warped by the Gilead effect.
