  1. Dec 18, 2019 · Even though you can’t protect your artwork 100% of the time, there is a good chance that a watermark will stop those who put the copy-paste process to use. Using a watermark is like locking your front door.

  2. Nov 14, 2017 · There is no law to say you should or you should not add copyright notices or watermarks to your images. It is totally up to you. After all, you own the copyright to your images, whether you put a notice up or not.

  3. Nov 28, 2011 · Given the different ways to watermark your work, for instance using a dA watermark or putting your URL or name or just a signature, what do you think is the best way? I personally like the watermark provided by DeviantArt.

  4. Jun 7, 2020 · Should you paste watermarks over them so nobody can reproduce or copy your work? Or should you attach copyright notices with each and every image? Today’s post is my attempt to answer all these questions and many more, but be warned, these are my personal inputs so if in doubt, seek legal advice.

    • Start with low resolution images. The internet is set up to handle high and low resolution images. If you put up high resolution images, not only are you increasing the loading time for your pages but you’re also inviting the unscrupulous to download and print your images.
    • Keep your images small. Image size is determined by pixels. (For example, an image that’s 300 pixels wide is smaller than an image that’s 800 pixels wide.)
    • Use portions of images. You can always crop your image to show just a portion of the overall design. Depending on your artwork, this may or may not be an option.
    • Add a copyright notice. Granted, this will only stop the people who already obey the laws. Anyone determined to steal your work will steal it no matter what type of copyright notice you use.
  5. By adding a watermark to your images, motion graphics, or videos, placing them inside password-protected galleries, or even selling prints at reasonable prices, you encourage people to buy them legally instead of copying them and using them without permission.

  6. Aug 3, 2017 · So, legally, how can you protect your art from copyright infringement? 1. Always Sign Your Name On Your Work. This is the first step in protecting your art against copyright violation. Adapt the habit of signing all your works, preferably with the year of completion. You must always sign your artwork once it is finished.
