Tomorrow is Tomorrow is the third episode of the FX limited series, Shōgun. The episode premiered on March 5, 2024.

After Blackthorne survives a brazen assassination attempt, Toranaga realizes he must ferry his allies out of Osaka or risk certain defeat.

Yabushige writes a new will after being summoned by Toranaga. Yabushige goes to meet with Toranaga and hands over his sword to Nagakado before entering. Toranaga tells him about the attack from the night prior and asks him what he knows about the society of the Amida. Yabushige explains that he only knows what everyone knows - that they are assassins sworn by the most sacred oaths of the Buddha Amida. Toranaga asks what he might pay for his head, implying that Yabushige was behind the attack. Instead of sending Yabushige to be killed, he asks him what he wants, which is the Suraga Province to expand his fief. Toranaga tells him he shall have it in exchange for his true loyalty.

Father Martin Alvito apologizes to the Captain General Ferreira, insisting that he can not sail his ship to Macao yet because Toranaga found out about the great profits the Portuguese have made from their monopoly over the China trade. The Captain tells him he doesn’t work for the Church- he works for the Crown - and the Black Ship leaves tonight. Rodrigues warns him they won’t be invited back if they leave without clearance.

Mariko oversees a doctor who tends to John’s injuries. Buntaro comes in and tells Mariko that they, with John, will go to Ajiro. Meanwhile, Hiromatsu brings Fuji her husband and child’s remains and tells her their lord requests that she go to Ajiro that evening.

Yabushige, Yoshii Nagakado, and a group gather to set off to Ajiro with John, Kiri No Kata, Mariko, and others - without Toranaga. However, Ishido shows up upset that Toranaga did not give a day’s notice before Kiri’s departure so that he could pay his respects. Ishido speaks to Kiri and she informs him there are too many assassins in Osaka and this is why she plans to leave.

When Lady Shizu screams in pain from her pregnancy, Toranaga takes the opportunity to discreetly go into one of the carriages, disguised, switching places with Kiri when Ishido isn't looking. Ishido leaves and wishes them a safe journey. His men escorts them to the gate of the castle. En route, Mariko informs John that Toranaga is known for his trickery and that if he is found not only will Toranaga be killed but all of them will be. When exiting the castle gate, a man demands to verify every person leaving on orders from Lord Ishido. John, realizing no one is going to stop the man from searching Toranaga's carriage, creates a distraction before he opens the carriage.

Under Yabushige's command, the convoy proceed to leave and head to Ajiro. Mariko tells John about her husband Buntaro and he tells her about his children, Tudor and Elizabeth. Suddenly, the group get attacked by a group of ambushers with flaming arrows. Mariko opens the door to Toranaga’s carriage and his men are surprised to see him there. Many men get killed. Toranaga believes they are there for the Anjin. Lord Kiyama is revealed to be giving the orders of the attack. Mariko herself joins in on the fight. The men scream that Lord Ishido must be informed, after realizing Toranaga is there, and they run off. Ultimately, Toranaga, John, Yabushige, Fuji, and Mariko escape and reach the harbor. John recognizes the crew there and they see the Black Ship. They board row boats to head to the ship. Buntaro, left behind, fights off ambushers as they arrive to stop them from leaving. They decide to leave Buntaro behind even after he successfully fights off ambushers. Toranaga bows to him and he bows back. He makes eye contact with Mariko and then rushes up to the attackers to fight until his death.
