  2. Jun 24, 2012 · A long time ago I posted a positive review of the low cost Sherwood RX-4109 receiver. It is still being sold in numerous locations for around $100 and has a company spec of 100 watts/channel and is one of the few receivers that has a phono input.

  3. Dec 9, 2006 · I have owned both the RD-6108 and RD-7108 from Sherwood. They are pretty reliable receivers. I have seen the RD-6500 for less than $100 on sale. The Onkyo unit afrogt linked to will probably have more power though.

  4. Nov 17, 2013 · Many reliable sources, including the product manual and Sheerwood AU website, suggest the Sherwood RX-5502 only outputs 200W, not 400W. A lot of 2 zone stereo receivers can be purchased for approximately 150 USD; many of these receivers only output 200 watts.

  5. Sep 15, 2005 · For the receiver, I was thinking of maybe getting a Sherwood of some sort. Is that a good move? My top priorities are being cheap (<$100 shipped; I'm planning to buy off ebay), and having as good sound quality as possible.

  6. Nov 5, 2011 · Sherwood is a reputable, non-big name brand that has been around awhile and would meet most expectations given that it matches your speakers and room size, as GranteedEV is asking, because that is really important.

  7. NOTE: Tests in 2017 of a second 6700, and by the ARRL of a 6500, no longer measured a dynamic-range increase with the preamp ON. The 108 dB value is no longer valid. 2 kHz dynamic range is 99 dB, same as 6600M. As with any radio, only use a preamp if it improves copy, and usually only on 15m and up. z.
