In 1912 the Olmsted Brothers prepared a preliminary plan for Seward Park, laying out general concepts that exist today: a mix of shoreline, meadows, picnic areas, bathing beaches and play areas, ringing what Olmsted called the “Magnificent Forest”—the largest stand of native forest in the city.

Start the tour in the grassy area immediately north of the intersection of 19th Ave E and E Galer Street, by the entrance to Interlaken Drive. This walk will take you down a wooded trail through Interlaken Park to reach Interlaken Blvd.
Seward Park is a 300-acre urban oasis located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Washington, offering stunning views, old-growth forests, and a wide variety of recreational activities.
