   When did World Cup 1966 stamps come out?

   • The stamps were withdrawn from sale on 7 August 1967. The GPO produced an official first day envelope, designed by John Denison-Hunt and depicting a football in the centre of a green background with the worlds ‘World Cup 1966’. It measured 61⁄2 inches (165mm) by 4 inches (102mm) and cost 6d.

   What size was a 1966 World Cup card?

   • Thick white card was used; opened out it measured 347mm wide by 151mm but was folded twice to measure 116mm wide. The front featured the wording ‘Postage stamps of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’ and the Royal Coat of Arms embossed in gold while, in the bottom half, appeared ‘World Cup Victory issue 18 August 1966’ in a rectangle.
