Rudolf Lothar German pronunciation: [r'uːdolf l'oːtar] (born Rudolf Lothar Spitzer; 25 February 1865 – 2 October 1943) was an Austrian playwright, librettist, critic and essayist. He was born and died in Budapest.
Rudolf I (1 May 1218 – 15 July 1291) was the first King of Germany from the House of Habsburg. The first of the count-kings of Germany , he reigned from 1273 until his death in 1291. Rudolf's election marked the end of the Great Interregnum which had begun after the death of the Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick II in 1250.

Tiefland (opera) Tiefland. (opera) Tiefland (The Lowlands) is an opera in a prologue and two acts by Eugen d'Albert, to a libretto in German by Rudolf Lothar. Based on the 1896 Catalan play Terra baixa by Àngel Guimerà, Tiefland was d'Albert's seventh opera, and is the one which is now the best known.
