Ronald Shusett (born June 1935) is an American screenwriter and film producer, best known for his works in the science fiction and horror film genres. Along with co-writer Dan O'Bannon , he is the creator of Alien film franchise.
Alien is a science fiction horror and action media franchise centered on the original film series which depicts warrant officer Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and her battles with an extraterrestrial lifeform, commonly referred to as the Alien ("Xenomorph"), and the prequel series following the exploits of the David 8 android (Michael Fassbender) and the aliens referred to as the "Engineers".
After the screenplay was edited and the budget enlarged, Skerritt was approached again and signed on. Halfway through production, he approached writer and executive producer Ronald Shusett and asked if he could trade his salary for a one-half percentage point (.5 percent) share in the film. Ronald Shusett (born June 28, 1935) is an American film writer and producer who co-wrote the 1979 film Alien with Dan O'Bannon and the 2004 film Alien vs. Predator with Dan O'Bannon and Paul W. S. Anderson. He also served as executive producer on Alien.
In 1974, he was the first to option the short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale", which eventually became the film Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Shusett is sometimes credited as Thilo T. Newman.

Ronald Shusett. Writer: Alien. Ronald Shusett was born to David and Fanny Shusett in June 1935. His younger brother Gary (1941 - 2013) founded the Sherwood Oaks Film School. When Ronald was three the family moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles where he grew up. He attended UCLA for two years and in the mid-1960s began producing stage plays.
