I work in a lot of different media and modes—from 16mm to cell phone video, and from expanded cinema performance to screen-recorded “desktop cinema”—and with a range of approaches, from material investigations of the medium (or mediums) to experimental documentaries and essayistic video.
Roger Beebe worked in the Mixter studio. Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.

Sep 22, 2022 · Beebe: I make work that takes advantage of the specificity of that encounter. The challenge is not just, how do I convince spectators to have the experience that I want them to have; but, how do I make work where that can't fail to happen?
Roger Beebe has been working in the Art Department at The Ohio State University since 2014 and was previously a professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of Florida.
The hopelessly hopeful scramble to the front of the line is saved from infinite regress and transformed into Buddhistic bliss when the audience starts humming the “AAAAA” tone that Beebe has abstracted from the melee at the front of the competitive queue.
