Dec 16, 2021 · Rocco and His Brothers (Italian: Rocco e i suoi fratelli) is a 1960 Italian film directed by Luchino Visconti, inspired by an episode from the novel Il ponte della Ghisolfa by Giovanni Testori. Set in Milan, it tells the story of a migrant family from the South and its disintegration in the society of the industrial North.
ROCCO E I SUOI FRATELLI has been restored in 4K from the original negative. Several parts of the negative were seriously damaged by mold and were replaced with a positive copy from the period. After the first screening of the film at the 1960 Venice Film Festival, two sequences were cut by order of the court prosecutor's office and the censors respectively.
