ROCCO E I SUOI FRATELLI has been restored in 4K from the original negative. Several parts of the negative were seriously damaged by mold and were replaced with a positive copy from the period. After the first screening of the film at the 1960 Venice Film Festival, two sequences were cut by order of the court prosecutor's office and the censors respectively.
