"Meltdown" is the second part of the 2001 miniseries RoboCop: Prime Directives.
reports that RoboCop has eliminated the remaining members of the gang Da Bomzz. This, combined with other recent activities, have come under scrutiny, with some believing the cyborg has become too violent. Expert Dr. Lester Worth dismisses such complexities, pointing out a supposedly inhuman nature. Commander John T. Cable's funeral is held, with a casket being buried at Nixon Memorial Cemetery. Sara briefly eulogizes her ex-husband for the news program.
At OCP Corporate Headquarters, Ann R. Key, Lexx Icon, and Abby Normal break into a restricted area where Ed Hobley interacts with S.A.I.N.T. as he eats. They stun him and begin downloading files from his computer. Hobley sets off an alarm, summoning a division of police to the building led by Division Commander Carl S. Buck. However, OCP's Sandra Smyles immediately takes the reins from him. Because Ann altered the security system, the building's defenses recognize the SWAT team as a threat, killing several members of law enforcement. RoboCop arrives on the scene, driving his cruiser into the building. The defense system's lasers unleash upon the cyborg, to little effect. He enters the lab where the three women are and they attempt to ambush him. He easily takes out Lexx and Abby, but Ann manages to incapacitate him, allowing her and her confidantes to escape with the stolen data.
James Murphy visits Cable's grave, soon joined by Sara, who coldly dismisses his wishes to pay his respects as a weakness. He then goes to his mother's grave, leaving a bouquet of flowers, then scowls at his father's grave before leaving.
At Precinct 1, Dr. Frost scolds RoboCop, who is distracted by replaying Cable's death. He suddenly marches out of the chamber with the directive "Locate John Cable."
The Old Woman criticizes Sara's failed "zero fatality" policy she instated for Delta Security. The Old Woman worries that the tech thieves were after S.A.I.N.T.. Sara scoffs at this possibility, but Damian Lowe states that the system was damaged, more likely by RoboCop than the thieves. The Old Woman declines to blame RoboCop, believing he is a bastion of safety for Delta City.
Lowe goes to Hobley, who reports that the safety protocols are offline, but Lowe dismisses Hobley's concerns, demanding Hobley to stick to the established schedule. Hobley shows that S.A.I.N.T. has progressed to the point where it can be talked to.
