  2. Richard Monckton Milnes, 1st Baron Houghton was born on 19 June 1809. He was the son of Robert Pemberton Milnes and Hon. Henrietta Maria Monckton-Arundell. Milnes was a persistent suitor of Florence Nightingale (who finally refused to marry him), and one of her staunchest supporters along with the statesman Sidney Herbert.

  4. MILNES, RICHARD MONCKTON, first Baron Houghton (1809–1885), born on 19 June 1809 in Bolton Street, Mayfair, London, was only son of Robert Pemberton Milnes (1784-1858) of Fryston Hall, near Wakefield, by the Hon. Henrietta Maria Monckton, second daughter of the fourth Viscount Galway.
