Established in 1995, the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park is the longest linear state park in Michigan. “The Great White Pine” stretches 93 miles from Comstock Park (near Grand Rapids) along the former Michigan Northern section of the Penn Central Railroad to Cadillac through 31 cities, villages and townships.
Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park Stanwood to Reed City The 21.5-mile stretch from Stanwood to Reed City is now completely paved, except a 3.5-mile section south of Big Rapids pending culvert repairs and replacement. Expect a possible detour. Take the loop through the Big Rapids Riverwalk (see next page) to ride along the river’s edge.
