Reported deaths, 2017-present. The following is a list of law enforcement and corrections related deaths in King County recommended by the Prosecuting Attorney's Office to be subject to an inquest under an Executive Order. This list may not reflect every death that has occurred.
According to preliminary data compiled by the National Law Enforcement Ofi cers Memorial Fund, as of December 28, 2017, 128 federal, state, and local law enforcement ofi cers have died in the line of duty this year, decreasing 10 percent over the 143 ofi cers killed in 2016.
These records include Department of Health death certificate index entries for individuals who died in Washington from 1907-1960 and 1965-2017. The indexes for 1961-1964 are available on microfilm at the State Archives in Olympia.
