I've been seeing stuff about this game called "old world" on steam that looks vaguely similar to civ. One thing that's kind of a let down is that you aren't able to go from stone to space age like you can in civ and I think that's kind of the best part.
Old World: - Doesn't look great but looks better than Civ 6 I guess. - Seems more in-depth but not as fun. - Everyone online seems to make it seem like it's great for a hyperspecific audience but a flop for anyone else. Any recommendations for which I should go with?
Old World is a better 4x if you like CK style and the RP storytelling elements of your various leaders and genealogies over time. Humankind is more like Civ where you have one eternal leader and it's a more standard Civ-like experience.

But those 7 do provide enough differences to have different styles of play. - Both have pretty good graphics, but Old World's event art is better. I prefer Old World's UI as I feel Humankind UI popups have a lot of wasted space.
