The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower is a 41-story, 629-foot (192 m) state office building and skyscraper on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The Rhodes Tower is the tallest building in Columbus and the fifth tallest in Ohio.
The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower is a 42-story government office facility with a total of 1.2 million square feet. Originally built in 1974 and totaling approximately $66 million. The facility is named in honor of James A. Rhodes, who was elected governor in 1962, 1966, 1974 and 1978.
The Tower stands 629 feet high with 41 floors containing 1,400,000 square feet. The site was previously occupied by the Columbus Board of Trade Building and earlier the Buckeye House and the Capital Hotel.
A mixed-use tall building contains two or more functions (or uses), where each of the functions occupy a significant proportion of the tower's total space. Support areas such as car parks and mechanical plant space do not constitute mixed-use functions.
