   Season 1 started off strong but the ratings fell down quite a bit, Season 2 was probably already planned before the first show even premiered, as it started shooting in late 2016. I imagine that the falling viewership and controversey of some of the historical portrayals and plot in season 1 basically cemented Season 2 being the last of the series.
