Ray "Kell" Nelson played 39 games for the New York Giants in 1901. He was at Amherst College in 1895-97. The book Christy Mathewson: A Biography states that Mathewson's "manager at Taunton, Ray Kellogg, played 39 games at second base for the New York Giants in 1901 under the name Ray Nelson".
