Ralph is a cognitive psychologist and behavioral decision scientists. He is the director of the Center for Adaptive Rationality at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin.
Ralph Hertwig has made important contributions to answer the question of how people make decisions, if time is limited, information unreliable, and the future uncertain. The focal point of his work lies in the analysis of the boundedly rational strategies (“heuristics”) that people use to make decisions under such circumstances.
Ralph is the director of the Center for Adaptive Rationality at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. His research interests lie in models of bounded and ecological rationality, decisions from experience, the psychology of risk, lifespan development of decision-making and evidence-based public policy (boosting).
