Quincy is called to testify in the small-town murder trial of a sadistic, ruthless man (Brion James). When he is shot dead, six townspeople all admit to the killing, and Quincy has to go through the town's indifferent police chief (John Anderson) and the group of townspeople to get to the truth.
Quincy M.E.: Across the Line starts outside the L.A. branch of the Frasier Pacific Bank where Lt. Monahan (Garry Walberg) is on a stakeout after an anonymous tip that an armed robbery was going to take place, sure enough two men rob the bank at gunpoint.
During an attempted armed robbery a hostage is shot by a police officer by accident. The police immediately suspend him and threaten to kick him off the force. He wants Quincy to use his forensic skills to defend him and prove that the shooting was righteous.
Quincy gets involved in youth gangs and the probation program after a nine-year old girl is killed in a drive by shooting. A 14-year old boy is set up to take the rap.
