Summary. In Part 2, David’s father, Wika, writes to David. His mother told him that David now lives in New York. He thinks of David often. He dreams about “the time before [they] went to Lipo-wao-nahele,” when they lived at David’s “grandmother's house” and took “midnight walks” (259). Wika wonders if David remembers, too.
