Jul 29, 2011 · Mary Marr Platt, known as Polly, was born on Jan. 29, 1939, in Fort Sheridan, Ill. She studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and began her career as a costume designer for the stage.
Drawing praise for her work on films directed by husband Peter Bogdanovich, Platt was production designer on such favourites as The Last Picture Show (1971) and Paper Moon (1973). Jul 31, 2011 · Polly Platt, a Hollywood producer, designer and screenwriter who was responsible for the aesthetic of several of Peter Bogdanovich's early films, died on Wednesday at her home in Brooklyn. She was 72. The cause was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, her family said. Mr. Bogdanovich was Ms. Platt's second husband.
