The Polish Film Institute is a state legal entity established in 2005 to support the development of cinematography. The institute operates on the basis of the Act of June 30, 2005 on cinematography, the Act of November 9, 2018 on financial support for audiovisual production and its statute.
The Polish Film Institute (PISF) is the newest film institute in Europe, established in 2005 in accordance with a new cinematography law passed by the Polish Parliament. It is set up similar to the mechanisms of support for the film industries in many other countries of Europe.
It inspires and supports the development of all film genres, especially artistic films, including film development, production, and distribution. The Institute also supports activities aimed at creating conditions for universal access to the achievements of Polish, European and world film art.
