In a modern variation of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, the old tale of forbidden love is set in present day Verona, New Jersey where two Italian-American families, the Montebellos and the Prestolanis, run rivaling pizzerias and hold a grudge against each other.
Joe Montebello (Eyal Podell) went to New York City to study the culinary arts. After his father suffered a heart attack and wasn't able to work in the kitchen of their family pizza place, Montebllo's (also claims to have the best pizza in Verona), Joe moved back home to run the family business.
