Pieta in the Toilet marks the fictional feature-length debut of Pyuupiru documentarian Daishi Matsunaga. Directly inspired by the final pages of the ‘father of manga’ and Astro Boy creator Osamu Tezuka’s journal, writer-director Masunaga’s transition to drama proves highly successful.
