Ask Dentist to submit pre-authorization or the treatment plan to insurance. Then go over once received. Ask questions, show and tell… the Dentist should be able to show you the problem, either on an X-ray or in your mouth or both, and explain why you need treatment and offer options. Seek a second opinion if not clear or have doubts.
If you feel like they are pushing something too hard or trying to scare you then get a 2nd opinion. An honest dentist will give you a matter of fact assessment and make a recommendation. The worst dentist I’ve ever seen used scare tactics, horror photos, and some other sleazy tactics in a misguided attempt to make me keep coming back.
