Pál Fejős (24 January 1897 – 23 April 1963), known professionally as Paul Fejos, was a Hungarian-American director of feature films and documentaries who worked in a number of countries including the United States. He also studied medicine in his youth and became a prominent anthropologist later in life.
PAUL FEJOS, President and Director of the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropologi cal Research, died of a coronary attack on April 23, 1963. After four operations, his staunch heart could stand no more. He was one of the vanishing breed of anthro pologists who came into the field from other disciplines, and he was a man of many facets.
A reexamination of Wenner-Gren’s blacklisting in light of newly available evidence is essential for a comprehensive appreciation of the philanthropist’s legacy and Fejos’s role in creating the foundation for one of the key institutions in support of anthropology.
