Apr 29, 2019 · At 05:30 am on November 20, 1979, hundreds of heavily-armed men assault the Grand Mosque of Mecca. Led by the messianic Saudi Juhayman al Utaybi, the mainly Bedouin insurgents transform the holiest shrine of Islam into a fortress. 100,000 pilgrims inside the mosque become hostages.
The film was co-produced by Dirk's OUTREMER FILM and Pascal Verroust's Paris-based K2 PRODUCTIONS, and co-financed by ARTE, RBB, TVP Poland, ORF and NRK. It is already distributed in more than two dozen countries by Cologne-based world-sales NEW DOCS.

Pascal Verrot is a French-born orchestra conductor who holds the post of principal conductor of the Sendai Philharmonic (Japan) and former musical director of Picardy Orchestra in France. Prior to that, he was music director of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, the oldest orchestra in Canada, from 1991 to 1998.
