Oct 13, 2021 · This 2017 vintage Port is made for Waitrose by Quinta da la Rosa, a small estate in the heart of the Douro. It was a dry, hot year, but a cooler spell during harvest helped this wine retain freshness alongside the hedonistic plummy fruit flavours and spicy, fruit cake notes. Eminently drinkable.

The 1992 Quinta de la Rosa has a deep garnet color, indicative of its maturity and concentration. The bouquet is rich and complex, featuring aromas of dark berries, blackcurrants, and plums, along with notes of figs, raisins, and subtle hints of spice and cedar.
The Quinta de la Rosa Vintage 2016 is a powerful wine with much potential but at the same time elegant and generous on the palate. Full of flavours, very complex with fine tannins that gives the wine a nobility and persistence.
The Port is still young with richness and a light structure that is still developing. It will fill out and ripen as its ages and smooths. All the elements are there for a very fine wine. Drink from 2025. — Roger Voss.
